Sociology Research

El No is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge, working under the supervision of Prof Jennifer Gabrys. Informed by her time in the tech industry working on the design side of digital products, she is interested in the ways in which different groups of people make sense of and collaborate with new technological artefacts. Her current project explores how app-enabled food delivery enacts distinct mobilities and materialises as infrastructural practices of smart city-making through the case of Baemin Connect in Seoul.

Prior to starting her PhD, El worked in management consulting in Seoul, data analytics consulting and technology in Seoul and London, and humanitarian aid in Nairobi and Garsen. She holds a MSc in Media, Communication and Development from the London School of Economics and a BA in Management from Peking University.
