Sociology Research

 

Kun Liang is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Cambridge. Prior to her PhD, she earned an MPhil in Sociology from Cambridge and a Master’s in Politics and Area Studies from Peking University. During her previous studies, she conducted fieldwork and historical research on education and national development in China and Southeast Asia, which now informs her PhD project. Kun’s current research explores the relationship between educational mechanisms in elite universities in the UK and the US, and the subjectivity of international students from diverse backgrounds. She aims to understand the intricate relations between education, power dynamics, and both geographic and social mobility on a transnational scale.
