Sociology Research

 

Lu Wang is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Cambridge. Her doctoral research focuses on the flexible employment regime and labour migration within China’s technology industry. Through comprehensive fieldwork conducted in both the bustling city of Beijing and the emerging city of Chengdu, Lu investigates how tech companies navigate the rapid shifts of China's internet economy, and its impact on tech workers’ career mobility and trans-regional mobility. Lu has shared her research findings at prestigious academic conferences, including the 6th Global Conference on Economic Geography, the 2023 Annual Conference of the Chinese Sociological Association, and the 42nd International Labour Process Conference.

Prior to her PhD research, Lu completed a BA in Law at the University of International Business and Economics and an MA in Law at Renmin University of China, where she pursued studies in International Relations. She has published academic work on the geopolitics of energy and business environment across Europe and Southeast Asia.

Research Interests

Sociology of work, digital labour, platform capitalism, labour migration, political economy, socio-spatial mobility.
