Sociology Research

 

Niamh is an ESRC DTP funded PhD candidate in the Sociology Department at the University of Cambridge. She holds both an undergraduate degree in Geography and an MPhil in the Sociology of Marginality and Exclusion from the University of Cambridge. She has previously worked within the NHS and Welsh Government.

Outside of her academic work, Niamh is a UCAPP scholar and competes in athletics and cross country at an international level.

Research Interests

Niamh is interested in how work in the UK is changing and how those changes are impacting our mental health and wellbeing. Using primarily quantitative methods, her research is currently exploring individuals' experiences of job retention schemes, homeworking, and shorter working weeks.

Research Projects

Working with teams from Four Day Week Ireland, University College Dublin, and Boston College, to explore the social, economic, and environmental impacts of organisations shifting to working a four day working week.
