Sociology Research

Simone Schneider is a doctoral researcher in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge, where she co-leads the Gender & Sexuality Research Cluster. Her research interests span intimacy, sexuality, culture, and social inequalities. Simone will be on the academic job market in autumn of 2025.

Simone studies cultural and social processes in the realms of intimacy and sexuality. In her dissertation, she examines norms, meanings, and practices of infidelity in intimate relationships. As part of this project, she conducts qualitative interviews with people who experienced infidelity, and a discourse analysis of dating platforms geared at infidelity. Through the lens of infidelity, Simone engages with wider questions around social norms, morality, and inequality.
