Yue Zhong is a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Cambridge. Her research investigates Chinese-African intimate relationships in China, exploring how local Chinese perspectives on Africans shape the lived experiences of Chinese-African couples and the socio-cultural construction of these views.
Before beginning her PhD, Yue earned an MA in Intercultural Communication and Education from Durham University and a BA in English and Arabic from Sun Yat-sen University. She was an exchange student at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2018–2019), where she studied International Relations.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Yue is an active participant in advancing gender equality in the workplace and academia. She co-founded a female academic community that provides free academic consultancy and fosters networking opportunities for early-career women researchers. She also volunteers with several NGOs dedicated to empowering women and promoting their professional and academic advancement.
