Sociology Research

The Gender Research Cluster is based in the Department of Sociology and brings together graduate students and staff from across the university to explore the role of gender in academic research.

In 2016/2017, we will meet to discuss gender in relation to a broad range of themes such as emotions, neoliberalism, race, and political theory.

Format

The cluster meets every other week during term time to discuss a reading dedicated to a specific theme. Each meeting begins with a short presentation and proceeds with an open discussion of the reading in relation to the broader theme of the session. In the hope of contributing to the development of a strong cross-departmental gender research community at Cambridge, we also arrange termly social events and workshops.

Social Media

You can join the Gender Research Cluster’s Facebook group, on which all necessary information on future meetings will be posted. We encourage members to use the Facebook group as a means to share calls for papers, relevant news and articles, raise questions, and discuss all things gender.
