Sociology Research

 

Alev Sen is a PhD candidate at the Department of Sociology and an ESRC DTC student. She is a member of Darwin college and is supervised by Dr Darin Weinberg. Alev has an MSc in Social Policy from the London School of Economics and a BA in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge.

Previously Alev worked in policy and research, with a particular interest in health and welfare. She started her PhD after over four years at the Citizens Advice, and was also at Genetic Alliance UK, Cancer Research UK, and the Department of Health.

Research Interests

Alev is researching experiences of living with rare diseases in the UK. Her research explores engagement with healthcare with a focus on people with Alkaptonuria. Her wider research interests include qualitative methodologies, and the sociology of health and illness.
