Before coming to Cambridge, Consuelo Sáizar was President of the Regional Centre for Book Promotion in Latin America and the Caribbean, CERLALC (Bogota, Colombia, 2010-2012); President of the National Council for Culture and the Arts, Conaculta (Mexico, 2009-2012); and CEO of Fondo de Cultura Económica publishing house (Mexico, 2002-2009). She has a BA in Media Studies from Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico, 1990), and an MPhil in Modern Society and Global Transformation (Cambridge, 2015). In 2021 Consuelo Sáizar was awarded an MSt in Intellectual History by the University of Oxford and a PhD in Sociology by the University of Cambridge. She is currently part of the Advisory Committee of the Zurich Centre for Creative Economies of the Zurich University of the Arts.
